Important things to know of this program

  • Climate: This region normally has a warm, humid and rainy climate. The average temperature varies from 23 to 26°C (72 to 80°F.) The driest season is generally November to February, but it varies by the region.
  • Vaccination: Please talk to your local health station. There have been cases of malaria in the area the last years.
  • Bus vs. Flying: Most students go by bus, about 10 hours during the night. Flying is an other option.
  • What you can expect to see of wildlife: You will see more wildlife at Yuturi than at Yarina. Yuturi is located deeper into the forest. If you are lucky you will see different parrots, a variety of monkeys, the both lodges.
Food: The lodges serve international food.
  • Money: Bring enough cash for tips, bar and restaurant at the lodges.
  • What to bring: Waterproof poncho or other rain wear, torch and spare batteries, plastic bags (for day pack and camera), lightweight clothes (trousers, not shorts!), a sweater, insect repellent, high factor sunscreen, sunglasses, wide-brim hat (baseball cap), and binoculars.
